Texas Troubadour Robert Earl Keen to Headline MISD Fundraiser
Country recording star Robert Earl Keen will headline the Mesquite ISD Education Foundation’s Lone Star Legacy. The benefit dinner and concert will be held Thursday, April 26, 2007, at Mesquite Resistol Rodeo Arena. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the show will start at 7:00 p.m. Individual tickets for dinner and the concert are priced at $100.00. A limited number of reserved, stage-side tables are still available. This package includes dinner and seating for ten at a front row table along with reserved parking. The price of this package $2,500. Second-row table packages are $1,500 and a reserved table only is $1,000. Click here for more details.

Plans progressing for Mesquite ISD Education Foundation’s Lone Star Legacy event
The Mesquite ISD Education Foundation, Inc. will partner with the Mesquite Championship Rodeo, Mesquite Chamber of Commerce, the Mesquite Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and the City of Mesquite to present the first-ever “Real. Texas. Festival.” The event will take place April 26-28, 2007, at Resistol Arena, the Mesquite Exhibit Hall and surrounding environs. The Foundation plans to host the kickoff event, titled Lone Star Legacy, on April 26. This event will serve as the principal fund-raiser for the Foundation. All of the proceeds will go directly to benefit MISD programs for Mesquite school children. Click here for the complete story.

Mesquite ISD Education Foundation Surpasses Founding Donor Goal of $500,000
More than 400 people attended the inaugural celebration for the Mesquite ISD Education Foundation Saturday night.  The event featured student performances, a celebrity speaker and a special announcement. The foundation’s Vice President for Development Lynn Davis announced that the founding donor campaign has, to date, $509,000 in pledges or contributions, surpassing the foundation’s original goal of $500,000.  In responses to this success, the Board of Directors has set a new goal of $750,000.  Those wishing to be included in the list of founding donors have until Dec. 31, 2005, to make their pledge.  The names of all founding donors will be included on a commemorative plaque. Chad Hennings, Steve Blow Star at Foundation Gala
The stars will be out for the Nov. 5 Mesquite ISD Founding Donor gala. Steve Blow of the Dallas Morning News will emcee the foundation premier event at the Mesquite Convention Center beginning at 6:30 p.m. Keynote speaker for the event will be former Dallas Cowboy lineman and A-10 Thunderbolt pilot, Chad Hennings. Founding donors will be spotlighted, and student musicians will bring additional entertainment. Click here for the complete story.

$10,000 Endowment Named for James Terry
The newly-organized Mesquite ISD Education Foundation, Inc. allocated $10,000 of its funds to the Dr. James Terry Endowment Fund. Earnings on the endowment will support programs and ensure the perpetuity of the foundation.
