The stars will be out for the Nov. 5 Mesquite ISD Founding Donor gala.
Steve Blow of the Dallas Morning News will emcee the foundation premier event at the Mesquite Convention Center beginning at 6:30 p.m. Keynote speaker for the event will be former Dallas Cowboy lineman and A-10 Thunderbolt pilot, Chad Hennings. Founding donors will be spotlighted, and student musicians will bring additional entertainment.
The event is sure to be a hit with all participants. "We believe both Chad Hennings and Steve Blow reflect the values of MISD, and we're particularly pleased to have them both on the same ticket. They are stars in their own rights, as well as insightful personalities and role models for our young people," said Chairman David Belt.
Columnist Steve Blow brings his common-sense insight to the podium. The Tyler native has long been a champion for North Texas school children. Steve Blow's observations on life and local people have endeared him to many. As a reporter, he learned to recognize a good human-interest story and tell that story well. He is an award-winning writer and husband of a Mesquite ISD teacher, Lori Blow.
Keynoter Chad Hennings is well-known as a Dallas Cowboy and three-time Super Bowl winner. But, perhaps even more notable are his contributions as an A-10 Thunderbolt pilot. During his four-year stint with the Air Force, Hennings flew 45 missions in support of humanitarian aid to Kurdish refugees. He received two aerial achievement medals, a humanitarian award and an outstanding unit award for his actions in the service. He now resides in Dallas and participates in a variety of civic and charity endeavors.
At the gala, founding donors will be recognized, as well as other notables. Testimonials will be brought by two MISD graduates, and MISD musicians will add to the entertainment. Dinner will be served promptly at 6:30 P.M.
Reservations may be made by contacting steering committee or board members. Single reservations are $40 each. Tables for eight may be purchased for $400. Call the Foundation office at 972-882-7396 for more information. |
