Cowboys and Kids 5K Run Set for October 24, 2009
Runners, and Walkers, Enjoy Perfect Conditions at 5K
Almost 500 runners and walkers of all ages enjoyed picture-perfect weather for Saturday’s Second Annual Cowboys & Kids 5K Run hosted by the Mesquite Education Foundation. The second annual took place Saturday, October 18, at The Resistol Arena in Mesquite.
“The Second-Annual Cowboys and Kids 5K Run was very successful and we raised more money than last year. Net proceeds will benefit the Education Foundation and the Mesquite Education Association,” said Linda Lentz, Mesquite ISD Education Foundation Executive Director. “We greatly appreciate the support of the many sponsors as well as the 484 runners. The event was fun, healthy, and all for a very worthy cause.”
In addition to the 5K race, there was a one-mile fun run. Families, including several with strollers, took part in not only the race, but in various pre- and post-race festivities, which included a bounce houses, face painting, and food. Awards were presented in the 5k for the top male and female overall, top masters male and female and top three male and female finishers in each age group.

Foundation Hosts Lonestar in Concert
The Mesquite ISD Education Foundation hosted the second annual Lone Star Legacy Gala on Thursday, April 24, at the Resistol Arena in Mesquite. The popular country band Lonestar entertained the crowd of more than 700 people. The Aggie Wrangler Dancers performed and live and silent auctions were held to help raise money for the Foundation. MISD Education Foundation Names First Executive Director
The Mesquite Education Foundation (MEF) is proud to announce that Linda Lentz has been selected as the organization’s first executive director. Ms. Lentz comes to Mesquite from Ector County ISD and brings 27 years of experience in public education, including her work as a classroom teacher, administrator and foundation director. Ms. Lentz first day in the MISD was January 14. Click here for more details.
