Tammy Zeller Endowment Scholarship

Tammy Sheree Zeller was born on June 21, 1972 in Dallas, Texas. She asked Jesus into her heart as her Lord and Savior on July 19 and was baptized July 26, 1981 at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church. She graduated from North Mesquite High School in 1990, graduated from Baylor University in Waco, in 1995 and went on to receive her Masters at A & M – Commerce.

Following college her passion was to return to Mesquite to become a teacher. Her third-grade teacher, Tricia Bailey, impacted her so much that she knew from then on she wanted to be an elementary teacher. Throughout her educational years she was influenced by many amazing teachers that made her the teacher she became. She had a 10-10-10 plan, which consisted of 10 years as a teacher, 10 years as an assistant and 10 years as a principal, sharing her light with all that crossed her path. Tammy was so passionate about all students and her peers in Mesquite ISD, where she served for 28 years.

Tammy grew up at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church in Dallas for the first 30 years of her life; where she was there every time the doors were open. Tammy and Joel were married at Shiloh. In 2004, they moved to Rockwall and began attending Lakepointe Church. Through Lakepointe’s ministries and their amazing life group it became her desire to share Jesus with all the world! She loved and was loved by everyone she met.

Tammy passed away after a fourteen year battle with breast cancer on February 17, 2023, at her home in Rockwall, Texas at the age of 50 with her husband by her side. It was Tammy's desire to create an annual scholarship to benefit a Mesquite ISD graduate that attended Hanby Elementary. After an outpouring of support from friends and family, more than $20,000 has been gifted to create the Tammy Zeller Endowment Scholarship. Endowment earnings will fund the annual Tammy Zeller Endowment Scholarship, in perpetuity, to honor and remember her passionate leadership in Mesquite ISD and a life well lived.
